LIBRARY ORIENTATIONS FOR YOUR CLASSES
You may use the link Request an Orientation from or call the Reference Desk at (626) 914-8644. Any Reference staff member can take your request. We will confirm the booking by phone or e-mail. You may come in to the Reference Desk and speak with the reference librarian or reference library technician to book the date.
Would you like a mini-orientation before the class gets one? Let's make an appointment. It might take 10-15 minutes. Not every class has library assignments. When they do, please let us present the search strategies to the class. We can take as little as 15 minutes; more typical is a 50-minute hands-on activity.
RESEARCH TIPS
LibGuides: Step by Step Research Guides
Some online guides are already available from the library website. Take a look at the Faculty LibGuide for more information on services and resoruces. If you would like us to develop one for your area, please contact a librarian at extension 8644.
COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT LIAISON
Librarians select books with course curriculum in mind. Each discipline area is assigned to a library liaison. See liaison list for more information. We encourage faculty, staff and student suggestions for purchases in books, periodicals, databases, and AV. Submit your requests for titles or subjects via our website, or contact a librarian at extension 8644.
DISTANCE EDUCATION SERVICES
RESERVE BOOK ROOM
We have a very active program to obtain textbooks, although not all texts are on reserve. Check the catalog to make sure. You can request that we try to acquire textbooks. Call or email Karen Mosher at extension 5190.
You may submit textbooks and other materials, such as sample papers, practice tests, and class notes to be put on reserves to Karen Mosher or to any staff member at Reference or at Circulation. Neither students nor faculty may take any reserve items out of the library.
COMPUTER LOGINS for STUDENTS
All currently enrolled students are issued a Citrus student email address. To log into campus computers the username is the first part of your Citrus email address (before the @ symbol) and the password is Cc (case sensitive) and the first six digits of your WingSpan PIN). Students have 200 pages of free printing each semester in the IS 107 computer lab (not free in the Library). Click here for more information about network logins and email.
AUDIOVISUAL SERVICES
Would you like to show a video or DVD or play a CD or audiocassette for your class? Do you need equipment in the classroom? Having problems with the audiovisual equipment in your classroom? Call the Audiovisual Department at (626) 914-8576. We recommend at least 24 hours advance notice for delivery service. If you need training on how to use the multimedia classroom equipment, call AV and we can establish a time for training with Moses Crowder.
AV has various media formats for checkout to support classroom needs. We can arrange a preview for recommended VHS or DVD tapes. Overhead transparency sheets are available at the AV desk. We can also supply overhead transparency rolls for classroom projectors.
AV staff welcome recommendations for new media to help build and maintain our media collection. Please note: all VHS and DVD should be closed-captioned or subtitled. Forward information for recommended purchases to Tina Gutierrez.
