Women’s Basketball Stumbles on the Road at Bakersfield

    Saturday, February 11, 2012

Bakersfield, CA (Women’s Basketball) -- The Citrus College Women’s Basketball stumbled on the road on Saturday night falling to host Bakersfield College 75-64. It’s the third straight loss for the Owls, and fourth in their last six.

Citrus did their best against the conference leader. The Owls rallied from an 11 point halftime deficit to pull within three points of the Renegades late in the game. Unfortunately, Citrus just ran out of gas as they ended up falling by 11.

Sophomore Brianna Barfield scored a team high 20 points before fouling out late. Freshman Sarah Rebibo added nine, while sophomore’s Kristine Reyes and Julia Tani along with freshman Kenya Thomas each pitched in with eight points each.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 4-21 on the year and 4-6 in WSC South play. The Owls will get a chance to avenge an earlier loss on Wednesday when they host West LA College in their final home contest of the 2011-2012 season. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
